ABA TECHSHOW Announces 2011 Line-Up

November 08, 2010 By: Reid and Dan Category: Announcements, Events, Technology

The ABA Law Practice Management Section has announced the keynote speaker and educational sessions for ABA TECHSHOW, to be held in Chicago on April 11-13, 2011. Harvard Professor and Creative Commons co-founder, Larry Lessig will be the keynote speaker for the 25th edition of the legal profession’s premier technology conference. The educational sessions will cover a wide range of tech topics including social media, using Macs in a law office, e-discovery, going paperless, safely using “cloud” computing services, remodeling a law firm website, getting the most out of Windows 7, and many more.

There is something for every lawyer, legal administrator, and firm IT staff at this conference. How do we know? Because Dan is a former chair of TECHSHOW, and I am on the planning board for 2011. If you have any questions about the content or value of the show, we’d be happy to share our insight as to how it may be able to help you and your firm.

The Future of Law Practice Conference and Symposium

October 07, 2010 By: Reid Category: Announcements, Events

The College of Law Practice Management (COLPM) will hold their 2010 Futures Conference and Symposium on October 22-23 in Washington, DC, and Dan and I encourage all lawyers attend and participate. The College, of which both Dan and I are honored to be Fellows, is dedicated to improving the practice of law and helping our profession define it’s future. A copy of the program agenda listing sessions and speakers is here.

We could not agree more with the conference planners that:

it’s time to turn the dial to “reset” and, starting now, do things differently in the business of practicing law! The worst is over and as businesses of every type pick themselves up, dust themselves off and forge surprising new routes for the future.

Learn how other lawyers and law firms are breaking that horrible precedent habit. You’ll want to be there as assumption-changing speakers explore and predict ways in which the legal enterprise will “reset” after two years of upheaval. Small group discussion sessions will get up close and personal about what’s really happening in law offices around the globe. This conference will give you a fresh take on the events of the past couple of years and solid ideas for capitalizing on the opportunities that await creative law firm leaders.

If you are interested in attending with Dan and I, complete the registration form and send it to College administrator Karen Rosen or contact the College at 720.271.7015 for more information.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Busy Lawyers Should Attend TECHSHOW 2010 in Chicago

February 09, 2010 By: Reid Category: Collaboration, Events, Technology

Both Dan and I will be headed to ABA TECHSHOW in Chicago  on March 25-27, 2010, and we encourage all our readers to join us that this valuable conference. Whether you are a tech novice or guru, there is something for all legal professionals at TECHSHOW.

Dan and I might be a tad biased: Dan is a former chair of the TECHSHOW Planning Board, and I currently serve on the Board. As TECHSHOW insiders we know how hard the Board works to ensure the conference delivers great value for your time and money. This year is no exception–the 3 days of seminars, vendor showcase, and personal networking are outstanding!

With the rise of cloud computing, the continued march of mobile lawyering, recent changes in on-line legal research, and more lawyers wanting to go “paperless” TECHSHOW is the only place to get the information directly from the best technology minds in our profession and beyond.

I will be presenting several sessions this year: Document Management on a Dime (with Donna Neff)  and 60 iPhone Apps in 60 Minutes (with Jeff Richardson). Dan is presenting Google Tools for Lawyers and Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Crackberries. In addition, Dan and I are collaborating on Practical Use of Smart Phones, an interactive hands-on session about the nuances of smart phones.

In addition to the educational sessions, there will be an expo hall full of over 100 vendors who can demonstrate the latest time-saving, productivity-enhancing products for your law firm. Plus, there are plenty of social opportunities to solidify and expand your business network, including the always-popular Taste of TECHSHOW dinners.

Want to know more? Email Dan or me (using the “Contact Us” button above) and we’ll be happy to answer your questions!

ABA TECHSHOW is not to be missed!
