Reid F. Trautz practiced law in a five-lawyer firm in Alexandria, Virginia for 10 years before focusing exclusively on the business of practicing law. Over the past 13 years as a practice management advisor, Reid has helped thousands of lawyers successfully create, manage, and grow ethical, effective, and profitable law firms.
Reid is presently Director of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Practice & Professionalism Center, where he helps members innovate in their businesses and, in turn, improve the delivery of legal services to their clients. He is an active author and presenter on practice management solutions and innovations, including technology, marketing, and business process improvement. His articles have appeared in numerous legal publications throughout the United States, and he is a contributing author to the book Flying Solo, 4th Edition, also published by the American Bar Association.
He is also a frequent presenter at national and regional legal conferences across North America.
Since 2005, Reid has been an active blawger on business, governance, and ethics issues of importance to lawyers at ReidMyBlog.
Reid is an active member of the ABA, currently serving as a member of the ABA TECHSHOW® Planning Board, the Practice Management Advisors Committee, and the Governing Council of the Law Practice Management Section. He is also active in the GP|Solo Division.
In 2008, he was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. He is admitted to practice law in Minnesota, Virginia, The District of Columbia, and U.S. Supreme Court.
In his spare time, Reid, his wife Mimi, and their three sons enjoy riding roller coasters and visiting diners, drive-ins, and dives.
